Neighborhood Kids has operated as a family-owned preschool for over 40 years. We start building the foundations of your child’s education by inculcating strong educational principles early on. We use our CREATIVE and ABEKA-adherent curriculum at the preschool level to balance the social development and skill-building your child will need in the future.

Our VPK program uses the ABEKA method which has a seven-step process designed to teach reading skills through phonetics:  

• Learn to recognize the short vowels and their sounds  
• Learn to recognize the consonants and their sounds  
• Learn to blend  
• Learn to sound one-vowel words  
• Learn the sounds of the long vowels  
• Learn to sound two-vowel words  
• Learn and apply special phonics sounds

The Pre-K program builds upon our educational principles and serves as the perfect transition point into more advanced kindergarten education. Here we continue to build reading skills while nurturing your child’s natural curiosity.
